Grading Policy

Grade Weighting

Students are graded on their standards-based mastery of skills and concepts.

Student grades are weighted based on the categories below:

33% - Science and Engineering Practices

· Models

· CER paragraphs

· Lab activities/ Online simulations

33% - Disciplinary Core Ideas

· Classwork/ Homework

· Participation

· Graded on completion (practice toward mastery)

34% - Assessments

· Final projects

· End-of-unit performance tasks

· Tests

· Quizzes or other formative assessments

Grading Scale

A Exceeds standard 90%-100%

B Meets standard (high) 80%-89%

C Meets standard (low) 70%-79%

D Nearly meets standard 60%-69%

F Doesn’t meet standard 0-59%

Late Work Policy

Excused Absences

You will have three days to submit any missed assignments due to an excused absence for full credit. If you need help completing the assignment, it is your responsibility to schedule an office hours appointment with Ms. Faynerman to get the help you need.

Missed Assignments

Late work that is not a result of an excused absence will be accepted for partial credit. If you need help completing an assignment, it is your responsibility to schedule an office hours appointment with Ms. Faynerman to get the help you need.
