Social Emotional Learning at New Visions

Building Healthy School Communities

SEL at New Visions is grounded in the belief that authentic relationships are a cornerstone of positive school outcomes. NVPS partners with schools and educators to build social emotional literacy and develop strategies that foster safety and belonging for everyone in the school community

We provide schools with professional development, tools and resources to support educators in their ability to design and implement sustainable SEL programming.

Our Unique Approach

New Visions brings together schools that are experiencing similar challenges to collaborate around innovative solutions. Our approach involves school leader engagement to support goal formation and design thinking, and we work directly with school teams to build capacity and develop sustainable systems for SEL integration. A major emphasis of SEL work at New Visions is the cultivation of 21st century skills, which are critical to the success of students in an evolving postsecondary landscape. New Visions is uniquely able to both look at big picture trends using data from multiple sources and provide focused coaching and support for folks on the ground.

Statement of Purpose

Social Emotional Learning at New Visions has been a growing body of work that has had a significant impact on our network of schools. At a time when student well-being and school climate have experienced immense challenges, New Visions has been able to provide much needed support through professional development, school coaching, resources, and tools. The SEL work started with our charter schools but has grown in size and scope to include Affinity schools with positive outcomes. SEL at New Visions is a key component to building and maintaining successful schools and has the potential to scale to meet the of NYC city schools and beyond. Other SEL providers do not have the context or the expertise of doing this work within a complex environment with competing priorities and systems. NVPS 'extensive history of helping schools build sustainable systems through codified processes and tools uniquely positions us to support in the development of scalable and data-driven SEL models.
