Welcome!
Welcome to the Reed Library Media Center. We are so fortunate to be working in such a beautiful environment. The library is open all day, from the minute students arrive to the minute they head out for the day. Because the library is no longer part of the specials rotation, it has afforded us to expand our offerings. I can collaborate with teachers for times students will come to the library or that I will go to their classrooms.
We will work on research together, including skills for: finding print sources, finding reputable online resources, taking notes, paraphrasing, and citing. We will also promote literature enrichment, with book clubs, as well as mini-lessons regarding book talks, Nutmeg-awarding winning books and trying out new reading genres, to name a few.
In addition to direct instruction, the library is responsible for curating book and online collections for curricular needs, making sure that students have the latest and most helpful materials in their studies.
When not busy working with teachers and students, I will be working also with the PTA and parent volunteers, arranging and organizing events such as the book fair and author visits.
