Project Instructions
Time Travel Tourist Company:
Exploring Geologic Time
Suppose you had a travel company that could take people back in time... way back in time. In fact, your time machine can take tourists back millions, and even billions of years to times when plants, animals, and even the continents themselves were much different than anything you can see today. For this project you will create a google site that focuses on a geologic time period of Earth's past. You will be trying to advertise for tourists to visit your time period.
First, you will choose a specific time period from Earth's geologic history. Next, you will use online resources to research that time period. Then, you will create your google site which will include written sections, pictures, and even videos. Finally, you will post the link to your google site to the class google site to be viewed by others in the class and graded by the teacher.

Below are the question sets that need to be answered to make sure you are gathering all the required information.
Question Set #1: Research the time period
Which geologic time period is your focus?
What are the major geologic events during this time period? (Was there an extinction? Ice age? Major evolutionary leaps?)
What is the climate like during this time period? (global temperature? Sea level? Atmosphere composition? Plant life? Dry? Hot? Humid? Cold?)
What is the placement or location of the continents? What is happening to the tectonic plates during this time period?
What are the dominant organisms for this time period? What are the top predators? Largest animals? Most abundant animals?
Question Set #2: How will you advertise your time period?
What exciting things will your travelers see if they visit your time period?
What is one thing that makes your time period unique and different from the rest?
What are some fun activities they can do?
What dangers might the travelers face?
What should travelers pack on this trip for comfort and safety?
Rubric
To the left is the rubric that will be used to grade your project. Notice categories of information and specific examples of types of information that is required for your time period.
The project will be worth 90 points total.
