The Newton County High School Library Media Center is open every school day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The library is closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for lunch. Student patrons may use the library media center during the school day with a pass from their teacher. In addition, some classes follow a regularly set rotation schedule in their ELA classes.
Patrons must
Show respect to the library staff and other students.
Talk quietly if talking is necessary.
Take care of books and materials and return them on time.
Follow the school handbook rules.
Students may check out two library books at a time for two weeks at a time.
Students are expected to return books by the due date to avoid fines. Late/overdue fines are $.05 per day. Outstanding fines on books that were overdue from past school years can accumulate. Students must pay all of their fines before they can graduate when when they are a Senior. Students are expected to keep up with and take care of library books.
Junior high students may only check out JH fiction books, JH graphic novels, and nonfiction books. High school students can check out any books. Yearbooks can not be checked out.
Students are expected to bring their school-issued Chromebook each day. The library can only loan laptops to students when theirs are out being repaired. Be responsible: Due to large numbers out for repair, the library does not loan computers for students who forget to bring theirs to school!
Students are expected to care for a library laptop as if it were their own. Any library laptop should be returned by 3 p.m. each day so they can charge for the next day.
Students should sign in and out of their Google drives each time they use a library laptop to avoid others from manipulating their Google data.
There is a printer available for printing. Printing is $.25 per page.
There is also a copier available for making copies. Copies are $.25 per page.
