Operations

The Newton County  High School Library Media Center is open every school day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The library is closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for lunch. Student patrons may use the library media center during the school day with a pass from their teacher. In addition, some classes follow a regularly set rotation schedule in their ELA classes. 

Patrons must 

• Show respect to the library staff and other students.

• Talk quietly if talking is necessary.

• Take care of books and materials and return them on time.

• Follow the school handbook rules.

• Students  may check out two library books at a time for two weeks at a time.

• Students are expected to return books by the due date to avoid fines.  Late/overdue fines are $.05 per day.   Outstanding fines on books that were overdue from past school years can accumulate.  Students must pay all of their fines before they can graduate when when they are a Senior.  Students are expected  to keep up with and take care of library books. 

• Junior high students may only check out JH fiction books, JH graphic novels, and nonfiction books.  High school students can check out any books. Yearbooks can not be checked out.

• There is also a copier available for making copies.  Copies are $.25 per page.
