There are TWO steps to the AP exam registration process. Both steps need to be completed for an exam to be ordered.
STUDENTS CAN NOT USE THEIR NPS OR PARENT EMAIL ADDRESS FOR EXAM REGISTRATION.
If you have an account set up on both platforms that do not use the correct email address, you can login and change your information. All Personal Information should match on both platforms, this includes your name.
Step 1 - Register for an exam(s) on the College Board MyAP Site– http://myap.collegeboard.org.
Students enrolled in an AP Course at Newton South will be given a unique join code by their AP teacher. By entering the join code on the College Board site students are automatically enrolled for the exam and granted AP Classroom access.
Step 2 - Pay for the AP exam(s) on the Total Registration website- www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/221548
The cost per AP exam is $115
Families who qualify for financial assistance will be granted a partial fee waiver. Please follow all the NPS waiver application instructions, this must be completed each year. If you are approved for a fee waiver, you still need to complete Step 2.
The DEADLINE to complete BOTH STEPS is November 12, 2025.
Registration does remain open until March 7, 2026. However, there is a $40 late fee per exam starting November 13th, per the College Board.
Financial Assistance: Newton South High School desires that every student be able to take their AP exam(s). If you feel you qualify for financial assistance, please contact your guidance counselor and/or Ms. Londino by November 1, 2025.
Refunds: If you register for an exam, but choose not to take it, a full refund will be granted until November 14th. After November 14th, a $75 refund will be granted, $40 is withheld from the refund to pay the College Board canceled/unused exam fee. No refunds will be granted after March 12, 2026. Exam Cancellation Instructions
Testing Accommodations: If testing accommodations are needed and you haven’t previously applied for College Board testing accommodations then please contact your guidance counselor or special education liaison by November 1. Requests must be submitted to the College Board by January 16, 2026 to guarantee a decision is rendered for May AP exams.
If you wish to self-study for an AP exam that Newton South offers:
Prior to completing the registration process, consult the full AP Exam Schedule before committing to self studying for an exam. Many exams overlap, you will not be able to take exams late due to exam schedule conflicts. Students that wish to self-study for an AP exam are encouraged to check in with their guidance counselor before registering.
We have a limited number of spots for some exams and students that request to self-study are not guaranteed a spot. Priority is given to students that are enrolled in the AP course.
Students who self-study for exams will have limited access to AP Classroom through MyAP and will need to find study materials on their own.
The following exams are typically offered at Newton North and not Newton South: Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A, Music Theory, and Italian Language. Their AP Coordinator is Amanda Mazzola (mazzolaa@newton.k12.ma.us).
