Exam Registration
Taking the Advanced Placement (AP) exam is an important part of all AP courses. Newton North High School expects that all students enrolled in an AP class will register for and take the AP exam. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit.
There are TWO steps to the AP exam registration process.
Both steps need to be completed for an exam to be ordered.
Step 1 - Register for an exam(s) on the CollegeBoard MyAP Site - http://myap.collegeboard.org.
All students enrolled in AP courses must enroll in the appropriate AP Classroom on the College Board's My AP site: http://myap.collegeboard.org
During the month of September, AP teachers will provide students with the join code(s) necessary to join the correct section of their AP course(s).
If you are self-studying for an AP exam, please contact Ms. Amanda Mazzola (mazzolaa@newton.k12.ma.us), for an exam-only join code.
Not all AP exams are offered at North. We only offer exams for the courses taught (see the exam schedule page for the exams we offer at North).
Permission to register must be requested before registering due to space limitations.
Students who self-study for exams will not have access to AP Classroom through My AP and will need to find study materials on their own.
Step 2 - Pay for the AP exam(s) on Total Registration.
Students/Families will need to pay for the exam(s) they register for. Students/Families will need to use Total Registration www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/221555. (When asked for an email address, do not use a student NPS email address.)
Any exam registered with the CollegeBoard, but not paid for by November 15, 2023 will be canceled.
The cost per AP exam is $110.00.
Newton North High School desires that every student be able to take their AP exam(s). Families who qualify for Financial Assistance will be granted a partial fee waiver. If you have not already done so, please refer to https://www.newton.k12.ma.us/page/1072 for the necessary form to receive assistance. The form must be filled out and submitted by October 30, 2023. The waiver will be applied during payment in step two.
The DEADLINE to complete BOTH STEPS is November 15, 2023.
Registration does remain open until March 15, 2024, however there is a $40 late fee.
If you register for an exam, but choose not to take it, a full refund will only be granted until November 15th. After November 15th, a $70 refund will be granted, $40 is withheld from the refund to pay the College Board cancelled/unused exam fee.
A few notes about your CollegeBoard and Total Registration accounts:
Please make sure you do not use your NPS issued email for either account, this will cause issues.
If you have a CollegeBoard account already and you used your NPS email address you will need to call the CollegeBoard to change your email address.
If you have a Total Registration account already and you used your NPS email address you will need to email Ms. Amanda Mazzola (mazzolaa@newton.k12.ma.us) to change your email address.
Please make sure the email address is your personal email address and not a parent/guardian's email address. You should be receiving communication directly from the CollegeBoard.
Newton North Students who wish to test with accommodations must apply for College Board Approved accommodations through our SSD Coordinator Ms. Patricia Leone. Please see the Students with Testing Accommodations page for more information.
