WELCOME!

Dear Kindergarten Families,

I am looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year with your child. The students and I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to work and learn together as kindergartners.

To begin, I would like you to know that communication between school and home is extremely important to me.  Through open and honest conversations, we can work together to provide the BEST care and education for your child.  To keep you informed about our class and your child’s progress, a home-school folder will be sent home daily. These folders will contain your child’s work samples as well as important notices and/or assessments.  In addition, I will using ParentSquare to share KT's weekly talking points.

School Hours

Celebrations

In accordance with the Zervas School Food Policy, birthdays and special occasions can no longer be recognized with the exchange of  food  (cake, cupcakes, brownies, etc.)  This is not to suggest that recognizing your child’s birthday is not important.  Every child will receive a special pencil on his/her/their birthday.

Likewise, families have recognized birthdays and special occasions by

Snack

Please send in a snack daily with your child.  Some suggestions include: fruit, bagel, crackers and cheese, yogurt, popcorn, dry cereal, juice (no glass), or pretzels.   Due to allergies, please ensure that snacks are Peanut/Tree Nut Free.

Lunch

12:00-12:40 is our lunch period.  If your child does not purchase the school lunch, please send in a bagged or boxed lunch.

Daily Pick Up

When picking up your child, please wait outside the school near the main entrance (located on Beacon Street). Throughout the year, I will be walking the class to the main entrance at dismissal time.  Students will not be dismissed until I can confirm that a responsible adult, or older sibling, is outside waiting for them.  Students who ride the bus will be escorted to their assigned bus.

If your child plans on leaving with a friend or has a play date,  a note from you is required. Also, if your child must be dismissed early on any given day, please come to the office to sign out your child.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Final Tidbits

We have Physical Education on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so sneakers should be worn or brought to school on these days.  Students will attend Art on Mondays, Library on Tuesdays, and Music on Fridays.

It is a pleasure to be a member of the Zervas community.  Together we will have a great year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Torres
