Ethanol, also known as Ethyl Alcohol or more commonly, Alcohol, has a molecular formula of CH3CH2OH or C2H6O.

Ethanol is an organic compound that contains an alcohol group. An alcohol group has an -OH functional group, called a hydroxyl, connected to a carbon atom. 

There are many organic chemicals that are considered to be an alcohol, but ethyl alcohol is the one mostly associated with the term as it is the chemical found inside of alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine. 

Other alcohols include Methanol, Propanol, and Isopropanol.
