Ms. Borja and Ms. Foreman work with students to develop their social and academic language in English. Our ELL students come from diverse backgrounds and are often being raised bilingually, or come from other countries.
All ELL students are in regular education classrooms. The ELL teachers either work with students in their regular classrooms, or pull out small groups into the ELL room.
Many times, we provide in-class support. During this time, we support students' English by helping them with what they are learning in their regular classroom. A common subject we support is writing and literacy.
Sometimes we take small groups into our ELL classroom. We teach grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, and writing!
ACCESS For ELLs: Every year, all ELL students take the ACCESS for ELLs test. The test assesses their abilities in listening, reading, writing and speaking English. Test results are sent home in June.
