Food Assistance

The New School Food Pantry is now distributing pre-packed bags on campus, by appointment only. You can make an appointment and staff can be reached at foodpantry@newschool.edu if you need help finding food near you. Feel free to also check out the Virtual Food Pantry website and review the following list for resources available in New York City.

  • Get Food NYC: During the COVID-19 public health crisis, New York City is taking steps to make sure every New Yorker has access to the food they need.

  • Food Bank NYC Food Map: Pantries listed on the map are operating on a grab-and-go basis. Call ahead to confirm hours and availability.

  • Food Help NYC Map: Includes community kitchens, pantries, and SNAP enrollment help. Always call ahead to confirm hours and availability.

  • Plentiful app: Reserve food from participating food pantries or use the map on their website.

  • Neighborhood Food Guides: Find local food resources shared by Hunter College New York City Food Policy Center.

  • Free Meals for All: The NYC Department of Education is committed to making three free meals available daily for any New Yorker.

  • Order using SNAP benefits online at Amazon, ShopRite, and Walmart

  • NYC Food Delivery Assistance - food delivery program run by the City for people who are otherwise unable to access food during COVID-19

  • Share Meals app: The Share Meals app allows you to find a share free food near you.
