Faculty who have the support of their department, and students/groups of students who have a designated departmental faculty event coordinator can organize an event.
A commitment of support by a department means that the department has the resources to cover university costs (i.e. Events IT, Facilities, Security), and that the faculty is committing to serve as the event coordinator who will oversee the planning and implementation of the event.
Faculty members should not attach their names to events in which they are not actively involved or for which they do not have adequate support.
All events must be led by a faculty event coordinator, who serves as the main point of contact for the planning and execution of the event. The event coordinator must be present for the duration of the entire event to coordinate with Security, Facilities, Events IT, and any external organizations working on the event. They must make themselves known to staff and volunteers, and remain highly visible and/or accessible throughout the event.
Event coordinators are employees of the university (full or part-time faculty). These individuals typically work in the department hosting the event.
In all cases, a student/group of students may not be the sole event planner, contact person or onsite coordinator for an event. All Lang student event requests that are not associated with a registered Student Success or Student Leadership organization must have a faculty event coordinator.
