Center for English Language Studies (CELS) consults on best practices for internationalizing the university, from how to support individual students, to working with staff and faculty, to implementing programs abroad. Sample activities include:

  • Adapting informational and promotional material to be more linguistically accessible

  • Recommending proficiency requirements and policy for programs across the university

  • Working with advisors and faculty to respond to students struggling with language proficiency issues

Center for English Language Studies works in collaboration with program leadership to design curricular responses to particular needs and challenges related to linguistically and culturally diverse students. Curriculum development projects include:

  • The Language-Supported Pathway in Parsons First Year Curriculum.

  • The Language-Supported Recitation Sections for Design for the Century lecture course in MFA Design and Technology.

  • Teaching strategies training for TF’s leading DT Bootcamp and Academic Language and Culture orientation for new international students in DT Bootcamp.
