The band program at New Riegel Schools consists of 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, Jr. High Band, High School Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, and the Blues Jackets Jazz Band.

Elementary:

Our 5th and 6th grade bands perform 4 times per year. They participate in 2 digital or in-school concerts (Fall and early Spring), a Winter Concert, and the Encore Celebration in the Spring.

Junior High:

Our junior high band consists of grades 7 and 8. They combine with the high school to form the marching band and pep band and perform many times throughout the year. In addition to our regularly scheduled concerts, the junior high band has also participated in OMEA District Contest, where they have received "Excellent" ratings for two consecutive years.

High School:

High School band consists of grades 9-12. They have many concerts and performances throughout the year, including area parades, 2 digital concerts, a Winter concert, and a Spring concert. They also perform at the annual Spaghetti Dinner and Pancake Breakfast, as well as an annual trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky.

In March 2019, the high school band traveled to "Music City" Nashville, TN. They performed at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Grand Ole Opry. They also had the opportunity to record in the historical RCA Studio B! 

After interruptions due to COVID-19, the band was able to travel once again in Spring of 2022. This trip was to Memphis, Tennessee. There, they performed live in Handy Park on Beale Street, received clinics at the University of Memphis, and performed at Elvis Presley's Graceland! Other highlights of the trip included tours of the National Civil Rights Museum, the Stax Music, and the Rock & Soul Museum. Students explored Graceland, had world famous BBQ, and even had a St. Patrick's Day dinner cruise complete with a live band.

Blues Jackets

The New Riegel jazz band is an exclusively elective ensemble that rehearses once per week outside of the school day. Students in grades 7 through 12 are invited to participate. 

The jazz band performs at the Winter Concert and the Encore Celebration in the Spring. Each spring, they also travel to jazz festivals, including the South Central Jazz Festival and the Tiffin University Fusion Fest.
