Mike the Morpheme Manipulating Monster!

Mike is our reading mascot! He loves to play with the individual sounds in words. He likes to blend them together to make words (blending). He also likes to pull words apart so he can hear each individual sound (segmenting). But his favorite thing to do is move sounds around (manipulation). These are phonemic awareness skills. These skills are critical for reading development!
