There are a number of wonderful organizations that assist students with disabilities, free of charge, in their transition out of high school. Whether that is college, trader school, a day program, or other plan these organizations can help support you and your child on their journey to independence- whatever that looks like for them!

ACCES-VR assists individuals with disabilities to achieve and maintain employment and to support independent living through training, education, rehabilitation, and career development.
Some of the services they provide are: Vocational Counseling and Guidance, Assessments and Evaluations, Adaptive Driver Training, Assistance with training tuition and fees (including for college!), job coaching, and more!

OPWDD coordinate services for New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, Prader-Willi syndrome and other neurological impairments. OPWDD provides services directly and through a network of approximately 500 nonprofit service providing agencies.
Some of the services they provide are: Job Skills Training, Housing Assistance, Job Coaching, Day Programs, Housing Assistance, and more!
To get started- contact the OPWDD Infoline at 866-946-9733 and ask them to transfer you to your local Front Door Office by telling the operator what county you live in.
