New Home ISD's first student newspaper
How do you feel stepping in as the new track coach?
I feel like I have big shoes to fill and what Coach Keys has done with the track program. I’m excited to step into the girls side from the boys side. Halfway through the year is always a little tough, especially getting to know all the girls, but once I get to know everybody I think it will be exciting.
What brought you to New Home?
Just the opportunity to work with Coach Ward and just knowing him previously. I like being able to be the defensive coordinator here, and just being able to just slow down a little bit. The Lubbock area has always been an area that me and my wife have always wanted to live in. We were just excited to get the opportunity to come here.
What is your greatest achievement?
I would say being a husband and a father.
What are you most proud of in your coaching career?
Just making an impact at the places that I've been. I've been to 4 different places in 15 years and just getting to know people there. I also hope I make an impact on the kids that I've coached.
What is an important lesson your family has taught you?
I come from a family of coaches, originally I didn't go to college to be a coach. So just everything that they taught me about how important it is to coach in people's life, I think is the biggest thing. I'm in coaching for the kids and everything that I can make a difference for.
