Process

To begin we ran some test to find a material we wanted to work with

1st. Test,

We wanted to have it crystalized, or at least harden to see if it would be a suitable material to make the frames out of. We followed directions and we're disappointed when after waiting for it to dry, no crystals formed.

1 tsp Calcium Carbonate, ⅛ Cup vinegar
- 1st day,(3/20) nothing happens, it dried

2nd. Test,

we did our own things. Simply mixing water and the calcium carbonate was the test. We ended up the chalk.

½ tsp Calcium Carbonate, slowly pour water (MINIMUM AMOUNT)
Looked like plaster, sticky and messy like a failed slime experiment
- 1st day,(3/20) the small rolled up one is chalk after a day of drying, the solution poured in a bag, is not dry.
- 5th day,(3/25) the solution in the baggie is the same as the rolled up ball.

3rd. Test,

None of the test we ran gave us what we wanted. So we chose to combine calcium carbonate and a different experiment, involving milk. It was a spur of the moment experiment.

½ tsp Calcium Carbonate, slowly pour water (MINIMUM AMOUNT)
Heat up 1 Cup of milk
Mix together,
- The results were pretty cool. We poured it on a flat surface and let it dry. It came out very flexible unfortunately we didn't get to test on it more.

Molds

We chose to make to our own molds. Using silicone and cornstarch we made molds for the legs of our glasses.

Prototype

After our molds set, we chose to fill our molds with our 3rd mixture. The difference being instead of thinly layered it was more thick. Unfortunately it failed. After the first day it was flexible, like jello. After the long weekend, it dried up.
