The coral reefs are dying from dangerous practices like too much fishing, warming waters, pollution, etc. Their disappearance could mess up everything that lives there and we hope to bring them back. Our end goal is to give back to the ocean and reduce plastic in the ocean. The fishes that used to live in coral reefs are left without homes and are dying in polluted waters. The ocean needs the fish to regulate the ecosystem.
Glasses are regularly found at the bottom of some body of water, lost there forever. They are also left behind at some big party and tossed away in some big dump. They are masses produced for your next 3D movies. Or during News Years parties, those glasses with some 2000 something year. Those for sure won’t be reused any time soon. All of these glasses will never see the light of day or a party or any kind of artificial light.
The purpose of Bio Frames is to address both these problems with one simple solution. Which would be our biodegradable glasses frames.
Some of the options for a biodegradable material were .....
Those were other options, but ultimately we chose to use Calcium Carbonate.
Calcium Carbonate can be found in organisms like, seashells crustaceans, and coral reefs. which is the main reason why we are so keen on using Calcium Carbonate, so that when we need to dispose of the frames we could do so in the ocean. The frames could naturally decompose or become an added part of a coral reef and help the ecosystem thrive. Calcium Carbonate can also be found naturally in the the earths crust; ie. limestone, marble, and chalk. This makes it very easy to obtain.
