The purposes of the Student-Directed One-Act Play Contest are to foster appreciation of good theatre, satisfy the competitive, artistic spirit with friendly rivalry among peers, learn to win or lose graciously, promote interest in theatre during adult life and create educational opportunities through directing and design.

Teams compete with ten-minute plays directed, designed, and performed entirely by students.

Similar to UIL One-Act Play, productions are judged and ranked, and individual awards are given.
