Do AI detectors work? 

The opinion, even from OpenAI (the creators of ChatGPT) is no, due to the mechanisms that make these tools work and since they do not give the same, verbatim answers, the use of AI in writing is incredibly hard to accurately identify regardless of the author. In addition, they may more frequently falsely accuse non-native English speakers and other groups of AI use in their writing. While AI detectors may help identify work that could possibly have been created by AI, they must be used cautiously.
