What is Link Crew?
Link Crew is a year long high school transition program that welcomes 9th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first year of their high school experience. Each 9th grader is assigned two 11th and/or 12th grade Link Leaders who help them throughout the school year.
There are four aspects to Link Crew: Orientation, Academic Follow Ups, Social Follow Ups, and Leader Check Ins.
Link Crew is a program lead by Ms. Canales who provides guidance, training, and resources to the link crew leaders. Check out the video below to learn more about Link Crew!
9th Grade Events
Leaders plan monthly events that are for 9th graders only. Link Leaders are there to make connections and check in with their groups.
Events include:
9th Grade Picnic
Pumpkin Carving
Rock Art
Movie Night
Game Night
Orientation
12th and 11th Grade Link Leaders train over the summer to help prepare for 9th Grade Orientation. A few days before Orientation, 9th graders will receive a phone call from their Link Leader to introduce themselves and invite them to the event. During Orientation, students will have a school assembly, small group ice breakers and activities, a school tour, and a 9th Grade BBQ sponsored by PTSA. Link Leaders will connect via email social media, or through text to ensure 9th graders have someone to reach out to if they need help the first day of school.
Link Leader Check-Ins
Leaders are responsible for checking in with their 9th graders monthly. It can be school related or just in general.
Academic Follow Ups
Four times throughout the school year, Link Leaders go into 9th grade classes and teach leadership lessons.
