Since 2001, The Media Communications Academy (MCA) is a career focused small learning community which prepares students for continued education, training and eventual lifework in the field of Graphic Design and Video & Audio Production.
The school within a school at Newark Memorial High School provides students with hands-on training in multimedia, graphics, video production, and media literacy. Students learn new skills while completing a rigorous academic program that incorporates technology into the classroom. The Academy program is designed for both general and college preparatory students. Recent MCA graduates have entered universities, colleges, and schools of specialized training, as well as careers in production, web design, and business.
MCA is staffed with a variety of faculty who has abundance of academic and career based knowledge to educate our students, and they also contain the abilities to match and engage students at all levels of learning, and interest. MCA is a family housed with a group of educators who cares for their students; one big family who learn and grow from each other.
The Media Communications Academy creates motivated, reliable, passionate, and purposeful lifelong learners. MCA empowers its students to explore, discover, create, and present media for the benefit of our school and our community.
The Media Communications Academy prepares students for college and/or career by providing a student driven, supportive, small learning community, through interdisciplinary multimedia instruction and project-based learning.
