What did you do in Art?

Artists in 2nd grade discussed the art element of lines and if it were possible to draw without looking. We challenged the idea and created blind contour portraits.

Taking away the ability to look at their drawing opens up an entire world of challenges, openness, and play.

Los artistas de segundo grado discutieron el elemento artístico de las líneas y si era posible dibujar sin mirar. Desafiamos la idea y creamos retratos de contorno ciego.

Quitar la capacidad de mirar su dibujo abre todo un mundo de desafíos, apertura y juego.

Blind Contour Portraits

Materials:

• Pencil

• Mirror/Computer camera

• Paper

• To begin, draw a simple self-portrait - how did you start drawing it? Where did you start? Do you think it will be the same when you stop looking at your paper?

• Using a sharpened pencil now begin drawing your self-portrait without looking at the paper.

• Remember: In order for this to be a continuous blind line drawing, your pencil cannot lift off the paper and you cannot look at the paper until the drawing is complete.

• Challenge- draw more than one portrait

• Fill with color - this can be the drawing as well as the background. *

• Sign your art

Blind Contour Portraits

Materiales:

• Lápiz

• Espejo / cámara de computadora

• Papel

• Para empezar, dibuja un autorretrato sencillo: ¿cómo empezaste a dibujarlo? Por donde empezaste ¿Crees que será lo mismo cuando dejes de mirar tu papel?

• Con un lápiz afilado, comience ahora a dibujar su autorretrato sin mirar el papel.

• Recuerde: para que este sea un dibujo continuo de línea ciega, su lápiz no puede despegar el papel y no puede mirar el papel hasta que el dibujo esté completo.

• Desafío: dibuja más de un retrato

• Rellenar con color: puede ser tanto el dibujo como el fondo. *
