Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Must be over 18 years of age to participate.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (both during and upon completion of the program.
Early career artists with less than 3 years of professional animation experience.Â
Must have an online portfolio that demonstrates a strong understanding of visual storytelling through storyboards. (See the submission material and portfolio guidelines section for more details on what to submit.)
Must be available to work full-time during the program timeline.
We are looking for emerging artists from all backgrounds who have a passion for animation and want to further hone their skills regardless of educational background. We like to see well-rounded artists with unique and authentic voices. We recommend that you present your strongest work and focus on quality over quantity.
Consideration for the Storyboarding Program is evaluated in the following areas:
Storytelling & Story Structure. Storyboards that demonstrate strong narrative storytelling. Clear beginning, middle, and ending.
Strong understanding of emotional character acting and entertainment value.
A range of storyboard sequences showcasing a variety of genres and emotions (e.g. comedy, action, adventure, suspense, drama, musical).
Strong understanding of cinematic staging and cutting.
Strong gestural drawing (the ability to draw very loosely and roughly while showing clarity in character appeal and acting).
Draftsmanship (ability to draw with intent and confidence; pencil mileage).
Character moments, comics, observational sketches, life, and/or animal drawings.
