Step 1. Use your smart device or a printout of the data sheet to collect monthly data.
Step 2. Have the students count the number of plant stems within each clump, and growing from seed (keep the numbers separate). Please note, NOT the number of grass blades, but essentially the number of stems coming out of the root mass that looks like (or is) a single plant.
Step 3. Have the students use either a meter stick or some form of tape measure (recording in the metric system, or if it's the imperial system then they'll have to convert... which could be a good lesson in itself) and measure the longest, green (meaning the plant is alive) blade in their basket. They will need to record the measure in centimeters and PLEASE ask them to be as accurate as possible (meaning two significant digits).
Step 4. After the students have collected all their data they will need to upload it to the online form.
