CARE & CONNECT is the class in which your son will spend the first 30 minutes of every day. In this class, students spend time CONNECTing with each other through small group structures, games, and activities. Students CARE for each other through discussions and supporting one another with school, extra-curricular activities, etc. Students CREATE a better path for their future stories by focusing on community-centered topics for both our school and Nelson County. Each member of the CARE & CONNECT will continue to develop throughout the year.
To teach music through performance
To develop performance skills on the various instruments (woodwind, brass, and percussion)
To provide the musical needs of the school and the community
To provide all students with a worthy use of their time, a means for self-expression, and a healthy social experience
To develop the ability to function as a responsible member of a group
To foster leadership, work ethic, and organizational skills
The Music Theory course is designed to enhance music skills and basic music fundamentals. The essential aspects of melody, harmony, rhythm, and form are studied. Throughout the course of the year students will study basic notation, scales, key signatures, intervals, triads, cadences, non-chord tones, form, part-writing and analysis of a score. Individual creativity is nurtured through both rhythmic and melodic composition.
History and Appreciation of Visual and Performing Arts: Appreciation of the arts is defined as: creating, performing, and responding to dance, music, drama/ theatre, and the visual arts. This course will examine the impact of history, philosophy, and religion on the production of the arts. It will acquaint the student with the language of the arts. Greetings! My name is Mr. Fletcher and I am excited to be your teacher this school year! I love teaching and my goal is to support the learning of each student in my classroom this year by creating a safe space focused on creating a place of belonging. My hope is that I can design lessons that engage students in learning, creative thinking, and to help students find a place for them to belong. Looking forward to a great school year. Go Generals!
