My name is Collin Souter.

It all started with a documentary film project centered around an arts education group called Barrel of Monkeys (now called Playmaker's Laboratory). The experience of making that film and eventually joining that teaching group led to an interest in education and I am now in my 14th year as an educator, most of it with Winnetka Public Schools.

My teaching experience helps dictate my philosophy of learning: Progressive education, experiential learning and arts education all contribute to that philosophy and I want to practice all of it whenever possible.

I hope to continue to learn more from outstanding teachers and to keep growing as a teacher and as a learner. I hope to learn more about how to develop engaging lessons that will enhance student learning and build upon background knowledge. I hope to gain more experience in teaching students to be more independent and to set them up for success.
