"The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice." - Brian Herbert
Hello, y'all!
The start of 8th grade brings much excitement and anticipation as these students begin the last leg of their middle school journey, and as your student's 8th grade English teacher, it is a privilege to be part of this ever important transitional year.
There is lots of great thinking and learning to be done in English language arts and reading this year, and the most I can ever ask of these students is that they try their best.
More class information (syllabus, tutoring, etc) is forthcoming.
Welcome to 8th grade ELAR!

Welcome 8th graders! I am so excited to have each of you in my class this year! This is my 18th year teaching and my 8th year here at DATA.
This year in 8th grade Science, we will dive into Ecology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth and Space. We will begin our first week of Science focusing on process skills and developing the tools needed to be successful in Science. These include asking questions, making observations, creating charts and graphs, and analyzing data from these charts and graphs. We will also get to know one another and work on some team building activities.
I look forward to seeing all of you on Monday!

I'm looking forward to meeting my new students. The first week of school is always a little hectic so I try to keep things low key and most concerned about my students settling in and getting comfortable.
