ELAR 7th Grade

Honors and GT English

This week we will continue reading Animal Farm by Geroge Orwell. We will be reading and annotating together as a class. Throughout our reading we will have vocabulary quizzes. Also, reminder that we have our first assessment scheduled for Friday, September 6th. It will be a comprehensive assessment on our summer reading, The Refugee.

MATH

7th grade math honors

W will begin working on solving equations. We will review 1 and 2 step equations before moving on to multi step equations.

Algebra I will be working on solving inequalities as well as graphing them on number lines.

Tutoring hours will be announced soon and posted on google classroom.

7th grade Honors SCIENCE

We will be continuing our Science Brain Boosters this week as we move into our first unit...the SOLAR SYSTEM!! We will be working towards understanding the patterns of movement, organization, and characteristics of components of our solar system.

We will also be taking our Fall Science MAP test on Thursday 9/5! This is used as a baseline to see what the students know, IT IS NOT A GRADE!! The goal moving forward is to improve their understanding and ultimately their scores as the year goes on!!

Honors Texas History

Students will start learning about European exploration this week. We will focus on the Spanish explorers: Cortes, Coronado, Cabeza de Vaca, and Pineda. We will also learn the difference between primary and secondary sources.

Digital Media 1

This week students will be applying what they've learned about typography. We have learned about fonts and appropriate font use and now they will get to apply that to their first project. They will be using Photoshop to design a poster of an inspirational quote.

Students will work with a client to create a graphic for them. They will interview their client to see exactly what they like and what they want on their personalized graphic. We will also practice how to communicate, how to listen attentively, and how to present their work to their client and be willing to make changes if their client requests.
