Homework for ELAR is once per week, assigned on Mondays, and due on Fridays. It will be found on BrainPOP. Classwork not finished in class can usually be taken home to finish for homework as well.
I have classroom assignments represented on Google Classroom, even if they are pencil and paper assignments. This should be the first stop for any student who misses a day of class.
Each student should be reading a self-chosen book for at least 200 minutes per week. 45-60 of these minutes will happen in class each week, but the other 150+ should happen at home, hopefully spread out over the week in 20-30 minute (or more) chunks.
The best way to contact me is through email but I am also on our 6th Grade Remind. rwayme@neisd.net

6TH GRADE SCIENCE!
Hello!
We will be working on our Environmental impact survey that we started last week. Students are preparing a presentation on the affects that their chicken coops have on the
Here is an updated grading policy for my class that was shared on 3/17/25:
Extra Copies will be found in the files by my desk. They are organized by week. (it is week 1 for the 4th nine weeks right now)
Missing assignments will be a zero until turned in.
Every Assignment will have 1 week to turn in, after that, it will remain a zero in the gradebook.
You may use an extra copy of an assignment to make up an assignment for up to an 80.
For online assignments, I will offer digital copies.
If you are absent, you still need to turn in your work.
We are going to maintain our routines and procedures!
If your student has missing grades or zeros, encourage them to come to my tutoring for help!
If a student was absent and has a missing grade, there is a file basket in my room with the week's notes and activities. If they fill in what they missed, I will upload it to the gradebook.
I have Tutoring on Monday and Wednesday morning, from 7:45am - 8:15am, as well as lunch tutoring on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Comic book club will meet on Fridays from 3:45 - 4:30, if your student has not given you a permission slip to sign, they may not participate until that is done. Similarly, they need to be passing all courses to be able to attend.
Remember: You can reach me via email ( jkelly3@neisd.net ) if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.

We return to our Digital Portfolios to polish them up for the end of the year and add their Multi-App to their App Inventor page. They have to download the file and put it in their "PORTFOLIO FILES - DO NOT DELETE" folder. From there they convert the file's link into a (semi) permanent QR code that anyone can scan to install it on their own device.
We'll be reviewing each other's pages using a browser that is not signed in to our IDs to find and change media that is not shared correctly and asks the viewer to sign in so that it can be displayed - there are Google Drawings that need to be downloaded as PNG or JPG images as well as Google Classroom documents that need to be re-posted to the portfolio so that those parts of the pages do not appear to be broken.
