The mission of the NEISD Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) is to provide all students the opportunity to become college and career ready by creating instructional settings that replicate real-world experiences, knowledge, and skills. Students may participate in coursework at any one of the three academies located at CTEC: the Construction Technology Academy, the Medical Professions Academy or the Transportation Technology Academy.

CTEC is open to any student enrolled in a NEISD high school. Students remain enrolled at their home high school and travel to CTEC to participate in coursework at our facility. Additionally, shuttle service to CTEC is provided for students by the NEISD Transportation department.


TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

The CTEC Transportation Technology Academy offers programs of study in Automotive Technology and Diesel Equipment Technology. Students may participate in coursework for as few as one or as many as four years. Students in entry level courses will all study and may earn the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Refrigerant and Recovery Recycling certification. Additional certifications and training options are available depending on the number of years a student participates.

Courses are open to students in grades 9 – 12.


CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

The CTEC Construction Technology Academy offers programs of study in Construction Science/Carpentry; Electrical Systems; Plumbing; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); and Welding. Students may participate in coursework for as few as one or as many as four years. Students in entry level courses will all study and may earn National Center for Construction Education & Research CORE, Construction Essentials certification. Additional certifications and training options are available depending on the number of years a student participates.

Courses are open to students in grades 9 – 12.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONS ACADEMY

The CTEC Medical Professions Academy offers capstone certification programs in Medical Assisting, Nurse Aide/Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Dental Assisting. To be considered for automatic admission students should complete prerequisite courses (Biology and Health Science Theory*). The pathway below is recommended for all students who wish to pursue a MPA capstone program.

The 9th – 11th grade courses are taken at the student’s home high school.
