This course prepares students for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Certified Nurse Aide exam. Students learn 23 state-mandated skills, including but not limited to: patient care, transporting, hygiene, and positioning. Students must complete lecture and clinical hours to qualify for certification examination. Clinical rotation hours are typically completed in an assisted living facility and may occur on weekends and/or during spring break. Certification: CNA
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic course teaches seniors the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the National Registry EMT Basic test. The student must pass a final examination with an 80% or better, complete all clinical rotation hours on a working ambulance, and complete all clinical rotation hours in a hospital emergency room to be eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT Basic exam. Clinical rotation hours will be held on weekends and/or during spring break. The course is rigorous and follows a very strict schedule to meet regulations.
