I would be a fool to understate the importance of student voice in my news broadcasts.
Putting together an episode of news a week all by myself requires engagement both from my audience (as a means of motivating me to continue the job) and towards my audience. In other words, I must possess a vast communication network with students and teachers from all corners of the school. Only by regularly communicating with people who are involved with many school events can my episodes actually contain content relevant to student interests.
Whenever someone has something I can report on, I'm just an email or a DM away from having it incorporated into the news coming out that particular week.
Some weeks, I don't know what to put in my news, and my followers will tell me!
Rocket News' outreach extends beyond the student body and even into parents and members of the Neenah community.
I often poll the Instagram account's followers on their opinions regarding recent school events and news. This makes the account more interesting for those who follow it!
