Program Overview: With strong roots in Project Lead the Way’s (PLTW) Gateway curriculum, Shattuck’s Technology and Engineering classes are activities-, project-, and problem-based STEM learning programs. Designed to challenge and engage the natural curiosity of middle school students, the courses relate technology to students’ daily lives while promoting communication and collaboration through emphasis on a team-based approach. The courses seek to inspire student imagination and encourage creativity while providing the skills needed to prepare students for the ever-changing future of technology and engineering. Shattuck’s Technology and Engineering curriculum is appropriate for all students in grades 7/8. Courses in this department benefit students whether taken as stand-alone classes or when taken in preparation for the high school program, as the courses develop and hone skills to prepare students with foundational knowledge and skills for success in Technology and Engineering.
