In 1969, South Korea was still recovering from the economic disparities of its war. It was common for Korean families or individuals to abandon their children if they were not able to support them financially.

Mee Jin Jung, now Sarah Hood, was just a newborn when she was discovered on a train and taken in by her local orphanage. In 1973, she was adopted and began a new life in America.
