One of SAMD's central goals is to partner with a local nonprofit, in hopes of both fostering a connection between performers and the work of the organization and creating a concrete community impact.
This year, SAMD is partnering with OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center, located at 3708 Washington St, Jamaica Plain. In their own words, OrigiNation "produces innovative and dynamic performing arts programs which motivate, challenge, and inspire youth to be the best they can be". They focus on giving young people 2 - 18 years old, especially those in Boston's underserved neighborhoods, quality instruction in dance, martial arts, African history, and more.
In 2024, SAMD worked with Circle of Hope, a Needham-based nonprofit which hopes to "provide infants, children, and adults experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity with clothing and hygiene essentials in order to protect health and foster opportunity". SAMD students donated over 60 dignity bags and $8,500 to Circle of Hope to help them reach their goals. Read more about Circle of Hope here.
