You have been teaching a unit on identity and portraiture for many years with a set of images. You are interested in expanding representation and providing students with additional examples of artistic styles and media.
You now have the MFA Art Finders slide deck “Identities, Societies, & Visions” and plan to incorporate some of the images from it in your lesson.
THE CHALLENGE: You only have time to show 5-8 images total, so you can only select that many!
YOUR TASK:
1.Please get into small groups of about 3-4 people. Take a moment or two to introduce yourselves
2. Review the images on Leaning Into Looking slide deck. It includes:
two slides (“Existing Image Set”)
a version of the MFA Art Finders resource “Identities, Societies, & Visions”
3. Select a maximum of 5-8 images total
Consider the questions in the “Wrestling with Image Selection” page/section
Weigh your decisions with colleagues and share ideas and feedback
Feel free to use the Layout Handout to write down your selections if you would like
4. Afterwards, please add to the Padlet with some brief reflection on the activity:
