Decks are typically custom designed based on teachers' requests. Some requests are made for a specific unit or topic, while others are more general. Teachers are asked to give their students age level and what course they are teaching in order to develop the deck in at an age appropriate level. You don't have to be an art teacher to request! All disciplines are welcome.

As of this summer, the MFA Boston will have a variety of decks for published use available. Preview five of these now. Specific requests (for next school year) are made through the MFA Boston website at https://mfa.org/programs/school-programs/digital-resources-for-educators. You can also reach out to us at teacherresources@mfa.org to see if we have an in-progress resource we can send to you, related to your topic of interest.

The Art Finders team begins with a request, then dives into actively researching the museum's collection for possible works of relevance and connection. Then the process of debating, questioning, and iteration continues until we have a deck that we feel is ready to send to our colleagues and teachers. A sample of our brief framework is below.
There is a constant back and forth between the group because intentionality takes time and dialogue.
