Book-It Reading Program Plan
Program Goal:
To encourage a love of reading by having students read 15 books per month. Students who meet this goal will receive a Pizza Hut Book-It certificate. Program will start in October!
How It Works:
Monthly Goal
Each student is expected to read 15 books each month.
Books may be read independently, with a parent/guardian, or listened to as a read-aloud.
Books Provided
Each week, students will take home a set of books from the classroom.
Students may also read books from home, the library, or other sources.
Parent/Guardian Responsibility
Parents will record the title of each book their child reads (or has read to them).
If a book is read more than once, the parent should note the number of times it was read.
Tracking Progress
A monthly reading log will be sent home and returned to school at the end of the month.
Teachers will review the log to verify that the reading goal has been met.
Incentive
Students who read 15 or more books in a month and return their signed reading log will receive a Pizza Hut Book-It certificate.
Benefits:
Promotes reading outside of school.
Strengthens the home-school connection.
Helps students develop fluency, comprehension, and a lifelong love of books.
