Class Selection Information
Graduation Requirements
English 4 years
must include English 9. English 10 and English 11 (AP English Language can replace English 11)
4th year can be any English class or the third year (or above) of a World Language
Math 3 years
must include Math 1, Math 2 and Math 3
Math 3 can be replaced with another class with Counselor permission
Science 3 years
at least 2 classes must be from different core areas
Earth Science
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Computer Science (Programming 2 or Higher)
Social Science 3 years
half year each of
Geography (9th Grade)
World History (9th Grade)
United State Government (12th Grade)
one year of United States History (11th Grade)
an additional half year Social Science
Health and Physical Fitness 2 years
half year of Health
one half year of Fitness (The class must have Fitness in the title)
one half year of Participation Skills (this can be substituted by Adv. Conditioning or participation on a USHAA sponsored athletic team for one season)
one half year of an elective PE Class (Weight Training, Dance, etc.) or participation in a second season of a UHSAA sponsored athletic team.
Digital Literacy half year (see Class Selection Planning Sheet for qualifying classes)
Art 1.5 years (see Course List for qualifying classes)
Financial Literacy half year (12th grade)
Career and Technical Education class (see Course List for qualifying classes)
College Preparation Requirements (Including Athletic Eligibility)
All Graduation Requirements plus the following:
English: 4th year English class should be a traditional English class
World Language: 2 years of the same Language is recommended
Math and Science: 4th year of each is strongly recommended
Social Studies: not all elective Social Studies classes are approved for Athletic Eligibility.
Consider earning College credit early Utah Valley University and Concurrent Enrollment.
Elite College Preparation Requirements
All Graduation Requirements and College Preparation Requirements plus:
English: Include as many Honors and AP classes as the student can handle and still receive high grades
World Languages: 2 years of the same language required
Math: Include as many Honors and AP classes as the student can handle and still receive high grades
Science: Include Lab Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) and AP classes
History: Include AP classes
Other: Deep involvement in 2-3 different Extra Curricular activities (different Extra Curricular areas include: Talent, Service, Scholarship)
Special Note: Elite Colleges tend to prefer AP classes over Concurrent Enrollment
