Dear Student,
We are excited that you are considering running for Salem Hills' Student Council! We expect next school year will add to the traditions and legacy of SHHS with the incoming new student leadership.
As a candidate, you must understand that if elected for next year's Student Council, you will have the opportunities to make impactful change at Salem Hills. To do this, however, takes time and effort. Throughout the school year you will be expected to be productive during class and also participate in activities before and after school. We meet often during the summer to get prepared for the school year. If you are involved in other activities or sports, keep in mind there may be scheduling conflicts. We will always work with you, but we do expect a lot from you. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic students who will make a positive impact upon our school and student body. As a member of Student Council, your positive example of Spirit, Heart, Honor, and Success is critical to all of our success.

In order to apply for Student Council the following criteria must be met:
Applicant must currently be in good standing with the high school. Applicant will not have an excessive amount of absences, sluffs, or tardies over the past year.
Applicant must have a 3.0 (B) or higher cumulative GPA. This must be maintained during term in office. .
Applicant will commit to uphold the SHHS constitution and Student Council Code of Conduct.
Applicant will adhere to all Nebo School District Policies.
All candidates' teachers will be contacted to provide an evaluation.
All candidates will have a formal interview prior to the week of elections.
Applicant must commit to enrollment in the Student Council leadership class, B2, for the full school year of office.
Student Council costs for the year average $400-475.
This includes the Student Council sweater, which is on average $170, and Student Council shirts, which usually cost between $20-40, depending on designs. These are not mandatory.
Student Council will also attend a leadership conference this summer from June 30-July 2nd. The cost for this will be $315. Attendance will be required
