All candidates will have NO MORE THAN 3 POSTERS 22” x 28” (maximum size). These posters need to be approved by Student Council Advisors on Friday March 22nd after school. Posters may be placed on brick walls within the school during election week beginning Monday March 25th. No posters may be placed on anything other than brick. This includes glass and painted surfaces.
Candidates may distribute paper handouts only beginning Monday, March 24th - NO other items may be handed out. (Pick up your own trash if you see it in the halls.) Please do NOT disrupt class time. You may NOT campaign outside of school property, including but not limited to the marquees at gas stations, flyers at restaurants, etc. Failure to adhere to this rule will affect your campaign.
All campaign materials must be in good taste. No candidate may make derogatory or slanderous remarks about another candidate, student, teacher, support staff, or school administrator in any form or through any media. Inappropriate comments will lead to disqualification.
Students may use social media to campaign, but are required to adhere to the following rules:
You may only start campaigning on social media when your election application has been turned in.
Only promote yourself. No slamming other candidates.
No inappropriate material, pictures, jokes, or sayings that poorly represent yourself or Salem Hills High School. If there is any of this, the candidate will be immediately disqualified. This includes any comments on your posts.
You may use Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat or Twitter.
Facebook groups are allowed.
We will be strict on all social media campaigning!
You must be following @shhsskyhawks on instagram, so they can follow your campaign.
You must declare that you are using social media and disclose your social media account names on your application.
Candidates will be held responsible for the actions of all persons who work on their campaigns.
No current member of Student Council, faculty member, administrator, or support personnel of Salem Hills High School may serve on any candidate’s campaign or be associated with it in any way whatsoever.
For SBO elections an evaluation survey will be sent to all of your teachers. This is how your teacher reference score will be determined.
Electronic voting for elections will happen on March 28th.
Interviews will be held on March 26th. Candidates will be contacted through their student email with the time of the interview. The interview score is factored into your overall election score.
The candidates will be notified of the results in Mr. Levi's room on Friday, March 28th during 5th period.

Students applying for an appointed position will not campaign among the student body.
No posters will be required for students applying for appointed positions.
Students applying for appointed positions are still required to fill out an application.
Students may post positive material about their own campaign on social media. Negative posts by a candidate about another candidate will lead to their removal from the elections. Other students who make negative, derogatory, slanderous, or offensive comments about students who are running for office will be referred to the administration for disciplinary action.
