Announcing the New Head Girls Track & Field Coach: Coach Derick Marchant
Payson High School is pleased to announce our new head track & field coach for the girls' team: Coach Derick Marchant.
Many of you already know Coach Marchant as one of our outstanding English teachers and as one of the assistant track & field coaches who worked with the throwers last season. He is passionately dedicated to developing youth into champions at life, school, and sport. He will do an exemplary job as head coach. The boys and girls track & field teams are run together as a combined program, so Coach Marchant will work side by side with Coach Charles (head boys' coach) to push our track & field program into a highly successful future. Combining Marchant's field event expertise with Charles's track event expertise will form the basis of a dynamic and professional coaching team.
Announcing the New Head Boys Track & Field Coach: Coach Fanfan Charles
Payson High School is pleased to announce our new head coach for Boys Track & Field: Coach Fanfan Charles.
Coach Charles is an exceptional athlete and an exceptional coach. Born in Barraderes, Haiti, Charles grew up playing soccer. After immigrating to the United States (Immokalee, Florida), Coach Charles discovered the other sports of track & field, football, wrestling, and golf and flourished as a multi-sport athlete. He excelled in all of these sports in high school, including school records and region championships in track & field (sprints and hurdles). After high school, Coach Charles competed in track & field for BYU where he ran a career best 10.45 seconds in the 100 meter dash.
Coach Charles is currently a P.E. and health teacher at Diamond Fork Junior High School, where he has served as coach of the track & field and wrestling teams. He also has served as an assistant coach for both football and track & field at Maple Mountain High School.
We are thrilled to bring him into our Lion Pride and Track & Field family. Welcome Coach Charles.
