Welcome to the girls soccer team at Payson High School.
My name is David Kindrick. I'm excited to start year 3. Just a little something about the staff and I.
I Graduated from BYU. Been teaching at Springville Jr High 20+ year 9th grade science and coaching soccer, basketball and track nearly the whole time. I coach girls club soccer and am the Girls Director for Shooter Soccer Club. I love the game of soccer and what it teaches us.
Returning we also have Chad Sperry. Chad is one of our coaches over at Shooters and is the father of our varsity team keeper Brooklyn. New to the staff is Maggie Coomer.
Maggie finished up playing keeper for Aggies at Utah State, trains our keepers at Shooters and coaches on the boys side at Timpanogos High School. We are excited to have her on the staff for this up coming season. We could have Ashley and Fan Fan back and could be adding a few more that are willing to help out.
I’m very excited to get to work with your girls. They have been hard workers with great attitudes. They show up with a real hunger to change Payson’s direction.
We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year. Thank you for your support!
Communication will be key to our success. Each one of us has an increasingly busy life. To help with communication and coordination we will be using an app called Ollie. Ollie works a lot like “Group Me” but has separate tabs that allows me to add events, team information, stats as well as the chat function. Adding the app is eazy, connecting to the team will require the team code. (900-893-945) This will allow you to see all our schedule events and to communicate with the team or individuals
Register for Tryouts Link
Paperwork
https://www.registermyathlete.com/login/ is the portal we as a district use to register and track eligibility for each athlete. Before you can participate all documentation needs to be completed. This includes a physical. Once everything is uploaded to registermyathlete our AD will then clear each girl to participate. You must have this completed before tryouts to participate.
Open Play
Starting June 1st we will hold open play at the high school in the mornings from 9-11am. Bring your cleats and water and join us
Tryouts
We had a great turn out for try-outs the past few years. Over 50 girls showed up and participated. This year, we will whittle down the group to have no more than 40 total. From this group we will form 3 very fluid teams(maybe if we get enough to form the third team). Over the next few weeks we will continue to consolidate those teams. Upon making the team SWAY testing will be done with each player.
The SWAY test The Sway platform contains over 40 different tests spanning across balance, cognition, function, and surveys. And will set a baseline for Jon to work from if injury is to occur
Grades: You must keep a 2.0 GPA at all times. If you have D’s and F’s I get notified making you ineligible for games until they are brought up.
The 4th term of this school year is critical. This establishes your eligibility for fall sports. Please get your grades up TODAY!
Attendance: You must be attending your classes as well as practice. If you have attendance issues I get notified making you ineligible until they are made up.
Citizenship: Please be nice to teachers, staff and students! If you get any 1U’s or 2 N’s posted on your citizenship from any combination of your teachers I get notified and it makes you ineligible until they are taken care of. Please be nice!
Region
Region 8 is a 4A
Region that includes:
Mt.View Timpanogos
Orem Provo
Uinta Payson.
Practice Schedule
To compete, attendance is critical to our success. I realize that we all have multiple things going on in our lives. I’m asking each girl to stay active, do it all but to give soccer priority during this time period. Do other things but please do everything to schedule around soccer. When we are not playing our games we will be practicing at the high school. 3:30-5:00 pm. Either in the stadium or on the grass field. There may be times when the schedule will be adjusted due to sharing with the other sports, so always refer to Ollie.
You get the point 3:30-5 on non-game days, so if you have a job ask your manager to schedule you after 5:30pm!
Uniforms
Last year we got new uniforms. We will use these uniforms for at least 1 more season. Uniforms are expensive so take care of them. Clean them on a regular basis, always reading the washing instructions.
Travel gear
At some point we will decide on team travel gear
Activity fees:
To pay for things like traveling to Vernal to play Uintah, equipment, uniforms etc.. There are several things we need to do.
First each girl pays $260 for their activity fee.
I need to have half paid by Aug 5th, which is before our first game with Juab.
The second half needs to be paid by our first region game vs Provo which is Aug 22nd.
You can pay your activity fees in the finance office at the high school. These activities fees are nowhere near enough to pay for the cost of playing.
Fundraisers: ?
Team dinners or lunches
Need help with this:
Team website/Instagram page for pictures, events, fundraisers etc.
Need help with this
Seniors: Senior night, Player banners, recognitions, blankets etc..????
Home games:
We want everyone to come out to games, we’d love your support. When you come, bring a lawn chair, snacks and blankets. Come and show school spirit, wearing greens, whites, black and silver. Sit across the field from the team's bench cheering loudly for your girls. DO NOT engage in negative words with other fans, players, coaches or officials. To be frank, it’s embarrassing, I will not do it, my assistants won’t do it and neither will your girls so please, please keep your comments positive and supportive of the girls.
Mission plan long term
To tie this up I plan on coaching for another 10 years. First couple years were great, and got off to a good start. With your support there is no reason we can’t make this year even better. There will always be some rough patches. One step at a time we can build it together. My door is always open. If you ever need to talk please feel free. If you do want to talk, the only thing I ask is that it’s not right before or after a game. So get involved, show school spirit. Go to other school events supporting multiple sports. Have your girls try multiple sports and be involved. Payson is a great school, with a lot of great programs!
Parent/Player Information Packet
Attending class and making grades this 4th Term is very important. This is the term that determines fall season sports eligibility. We want everyone to be eligiable to play!
