Dr. Salvador Gezan

Dr. Gezan is one of the world experts on Linear Mixed Models (LMM) applied to breeding and quantitative genetics. For over 20 years he has worked as an independent international statistician consultant and professor for many prestigious research centers, public universities and private industries around the world, including to mentioned few of them University of Florida (Gainesville, USA), Rothamsted Research and VSNi (UK). His experience with several agricultural, forestry, aquaculture and animal public and private breeding programs also include the optimization of resources for design and analysis of breeding experiments, development of pipelines for molecular analyses and directly manage and train staff and scientist to perform breeding activities on a routine basis.

Dr. Gezan provides guidance and leadership to our breeding pipeline database managers team in projects related to the development of applications and analysis of big data. Additionally, Dr. Gezan also serves as an Affiliate Faculty for the Department of Plant Sciences at NDSU, where he is contributing to the training and modernization of our breeding programs.

Johan Aparicio

Johan is one of the youngest experts on the application of spatial analysis and LMM for field trials. His passion for data science and visualizations development, combined with his desire for accelerating precise decision-making processes in plant breeding is leading him to work on the development of applications designed to automate routine tasks. He started venturing on the spatial statistics analysis as part of his undergrad research while working in CIAT (International Center for Tropical Agriculture), where he currently works as a Statistician Researcher.

Johan is the developer of Mr. Bean, which is an easy to use R-Shiny web-app that simplifies the analysis of large-scale plant breeding experimental analysis by using the power and versatility of LMM. He is also currently developing Mr.Gen, which an application that allow users to do cross validation in genomics selection using Bayesian and other classical approaches.
