Our research group investigates microbial opportunities to reduce dependencies on agricultural chemicals. We use cutting edge tools to address fundamental problems in plant and microbial biology. We are also passionate about translation and constinuously strive to bridge the gap from the lab to the field.
We are working to learn how to maximize symbiotic nitrogen fixation in agricultural systems through a comprohensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms and ecology of rhizobium-legume symbiosis.
With the long term aim of engineering symbiotic nitrogen fixation in cereal crops, we are pioneering synthetic genomics technology to engineer new-to-nature symbiosis between plants and microbes
Our central goal is to harness plant microbiomes to promote agricultural resiliency to stress. We are working to understand how crop plants assemble their microbiomes in order to promote healthy microbial communities that protect from biotic and abiotic stress.
