The presentations, reflections, research projects, and reports of current events around the world represent the culmination of four years' worth of work during my high school career. Through global-oriented courses completed through the Global Citizen Scholars Program, attended conferences detailing global issues around the world, and global immersion programs abroad in Argentina and Peru, I have been given the opportunity to dive into topics ranging from the study of Spanish Reggaeton music to the competition between Greek and Ethiopian cultural traditions within the Ethiopian state.

During senior year in my high school, we are required to conduct and present a research project that centers around a topic of our choosing. I chose to focus on perceptions and true stories detailing the reality of immigration primarily happening in Latin and Central America. As the project will not be completed until the conclusion of my senior year, I only included my proposal for the project, which details the subjects I want to delve further into with my research.

Globalization vs. Ethnic Identity Final Project
This annotated bibliography, one of my greatest works, draws connections between geography and language development. I posed a line of inquiry that stated, "How does the geography of a location affect the development of language?" I tied the ergative sentence structure, a rare structure in which the direct object is often placed in front of the verb, with cultures around the world, including the Inuit people of Canada, Alaska, and Greenland, the Basque people of the Pyrenees Mountains in Spain, and the Abkhaz people of the Caucasus Mountains along the Black Sea. I tied in credible sources ranging from scholarly journals to primary stories relayed by reliable individuals. Throughout the year in my AP Human Geography course, we compared developed and developing countries using the examination of cultural landscape, economic stability, political organization, geography, and culture. These presentations represent a collection of research that depict the culmination of a year's worth of work. The countries I chose to compare included Finland and Ethiopia, and their divergent natures proved that ranking countries based on development and indicators is a task not easily completed.

Model United Nations
Model United Nations
During an annual conference at the University of Pennsylvania, deemed ILMUNC, thousands of students from all over the country and several countries around the world gathered to debate a wide range of globally prevalent issues in our world today. My partner and I represented the country of Egypt in debate surrounding integration of immigrants into host societies and the humanitarian crisis surrounding immigration in the Northern Triangle, a group of countries in South America torn by political and often violent problems. We drafted position papers that not only detailed the issue at large, but specifically focused on our proposals for solutions to the issues and the detailed opinions of the country we were representing in debate of course.
During the 24th Annual Desales Model United Nations Conference, my partner and I represented Japan in debate surrounding jurisdiction over crimes of aggression, child adoption systems, global democratization efforts, and even the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. We won third place for our superb verbal skills in an accurate of the nation of Japan.
