Information About Preschool

Teachers: 

Julie Haskovec has been teaching at Notre Dame for 34 years with 25 of them in Preschool. She started her teaching career teaching Preschool at Notre Dame and then taught other levels for 9 years before returning to Preschool. She has a degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement. 

Missy Mayer is a Level 2 Paraeducator and has been in Preschool for 4 years. 

Days & Times: 

We offer a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday Session 8:10-11:10 or 12:10 -3:10. We also offer a 5th day option on Wednesday 8:10-11:10.

Fees & Tuition: 

Our Preschool program is part of the State of Iowa Voluntary Four Year Old Preschool Funding along with the Howard Winneshiek School District. The funding provides the opportunity for all four year old children to attend Preschool without paying tuition. We offer free tuition for the 4 day program but charge $52 a month for attending the Wednesday session. 

Transportation: 

Howard-Winneshiek busing is provided to the A.M. Preschool or home from PM Preschool, if you live on a regular rural bus route. There is no charge for regular rural bus route pick up and drop off. If your child is the oldest and you are considering busing please contact the Howard-Winneshiek Bus Garage at 563-547-2341 with any questions.  There is also a shuttle to and from Kessel Kids to the AM session and after the PM session.  Other busing is available for a fee from NEICAC-Transit by calling 1-866-382-4259. More information about Transit will be given in the fall.

Curriculum: 

We use Creative Curriculum as our guide. This curriculum focuses on four areas: cognitive, language, social and physical. We also integrate the content areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, the Arts and technology. At Notre Dame, we develop your child in these areas within a Christian environment. We provide 2 conferences and 4 progress reports throughout the year.
