Aurea (she/her) is boldly navigating her second year as a Program Manager at ND's Initiative on Race and Resilience after moving from NY/NJ, where she grew up. Her love of social justice movements comes from her time as a student activist at Brown University (BA) and Columbia University (MA). A career educator, she taught all levels of classes from pre-K through college and is deeply interested in making learning accessible in all community spaces. Aurea is a proud Nuyorican - and embraces her multiracial and multiethnic way of being. At ND, she is an active member of the DEI Practitioners Group, Chair of the College of Art & Letters Inclusion and Belonging Committee, and a member of the ThriveND Planning Committee. When relaxing, she can be found reading (100+ books a year), cooking, hiking, and working with fabric arts.
